Jakarta (ANTARA) – Lagu “All You Need Is Love” pertama kali diperdengarkan kepada dunia oleh grup musik pop legendaris asal Inggris The Beatles dalam acara televisi global “Our World” pada 25 Juni 1967.
“All You Need Is Love”, ditulis oleh John Lennon dan dikreditkan kepada John Lennon dan Paul McCartney, menurut laman The Beatles.
Lagu itu merupakan kontribusi Inggris untuk acara televisi langsung yang pertama disiarkan dari London, Inggris secara multinasional, adapun total jumlah pemirsanya diperkirakan mencapai lebih dari 400 juta di 26 negara.
Struktur dan aransemen lagu tersebut merefleksikan semangat perdamaian era “Summer of Love” sekitar pertengahan tahun 1967.
Lagu “All You Need Is Love” menggunakan tempo 7/4 yang tidak umum, berbeda dengan kebanyakan susunan lagu pop yang menggunakan tempo 4/4. Struktur chorus-nya yang sangat repetitif dengan hanya satu nada juga menjadi ciri khasnya.
Meskipun The Beatles dikenal memiliki ciri khas musik sendiri, pada lagu “All You Need Is Love” menggunakan musik orkestra yang menambah suasana yang lebih megah dan epik. Contohnya penempatan fragmen nada mirip lagu kebangsaan Prancis “La Marseillaise” atau juga lagu Indonesia “Dari Sabang Sampai Merauke” pada bagian instrumental pembuka lagu “All You Need Is Love”.
George Martin, adalah produser lagu “All You Need Is Love” The Beatles, di mana singel tersebut kemudian dirilis dalam format piringan hitam 7 inci pada 7 Juli 1967, sebagai sisi-A dari lagu “Baby, You’re a Rich Man”.
