Jakarta (ANTARA) – Justin Timberlake kembali berkarya dengan merilis lagu “Selfish” beserta video musiknya pada 25 Januari 2024, menandai kemunculan kembali bintang pop Amerika Serikat itu ke industri musik.
Justin Timberlake terakhir merilis lagu untuk album solonya pada 2018 “Man of the Woods“. Tiga produser musik asal AS Louis Bell, Theron Thomas, dan Amy Allen serta produser rekaman asal Kanada Henry Walter (Cirkut) bekerja sama menulis lagu “Selfish”.
Sebelum resmi dirilis, Justin Timberlake telah memberikan sedikit bocoran tentang “Selfish” melalui akun media sosialnya. Cuplikan lagu berdurasi 30 detik yang diunggah ke akun TikTok dan Instagram-nya menjelang pertunjukan di kampung halamannya Memphis, Tennessee, membuat para penggemar semakin penasaran.
Tercatat video musik lagu itu telah mencapai lebih dari 41,7 juta kali pemutaran sejak dirilis pada 25 Januari lalu.
Lagu yang kemudian menjadi single utama dari album keenam “Everything I Thought It Was” yang rilis 15 Maret 2024 itu mengangkat tema tentang cinta yang begitu kuat dan mendalam, hingga cenderung terasa posesif.
